Nail Tech Spotlight Kae Edwards
This month, we’re shining the Nail Tech Spotlight on the incredibly talented Kae Edwards, @kreatedbykae_ a nail artist, content creator, and all-around creative force who’s become an integral part of the HONA community. And since it’s her birthday month, there’s no better time to celebrate her journey.
From time-lapse videos on her art page to shaping some of our most-loved HONA launches, Kae’s content journey has always been driven by passion. What began as a creative outlet has evolved into a career rooted in consistency, talent, and a genuine love for the craft.
Her contributions to standout campaigns like Into The Darkness and Miami Mani have helped capture what makes HONA special: real nail techs, real creativity, and a whole lot of heart.
In this spotlight, Kae opens up about what inspired her to start creating content, how she finds balance in the chaos, and why trusting your vision is everything. Her advice for nail techs looking to show up online?
“Find what you’re good at and hone in on that… the sets I doubt myself on are the ones people love the most!”
If you’ve ever dreamed of turning your passion into something more, let Kae’s journey be your reminder that it’s absolutely possible.
Q&A With Kae
Join us as we dive into an insightful and inspiring Q&A with Kae
Q: What inspired you to start creating nail content online, and did you ever imagine it would become a full-time career?
A: I’ve always loved seeing the process of doing things, and when I had my art page, it was a popular thing to film time-lapses or tutorials, so when I started doing nails, I made content right from the beginning. I would absolutely love to do content creation full-time! Hopefully it’s something that’s in the works …

Q: You’ve worked closely with HONA on campaigns and launches—what’s been your favourite project so far?
A: My favourite launch is definitely Into The Darkness. Darkness is like my fave shade ever!! But I do have a soft spot for the juicy gel collection too, I reach for that a lot these days.

Q: What’s your content creation process like from idea to post?
A: My content creation usually starts with either inspiration or a concept. If it’s going to be a detailed set then I use procreate to draw it out but sometimes I just go in the nail room and do something, hoping that it works out well. Sometimes I’ll film the whole process and sometimes I don’t, but I always take a video and a photo of the finished product. Then I edit them and schedule them to post.

Q: How do you balance being both a nail tech, content creator and life with a family?
A: Sometimes I find it hard to balance it all, but I have a really good support system and I’m learning to listen to myself more and not put pressure on myself to do too much. Scheduling time for certain things really helps me because my mind is very chaotic so I feel better when my day has structure.

Q: What advice would you give to nail techs who want to start posting their work online or working with brands?
A: My main piece of advice would be to find what you’re good at and hone in on that. Then you can start to post consistently and build up a portfolio of your work. And post your work! As nail techs, we can be really self-critical, but the sets I doubt myself on are the ones that people love the most!
